Kiprusoff to Become Fourth Player to Have His Number Retired
CALGARY -- Miikka Kiprusoff entered the rink through the Zamboni entrance, passing by the crease he guarded over for nine seasons to high-five a dozen Calgary minor hockey players. He ended his career as the Flames franchise leader in wins (305), shutouts (41), and games played by a goaltender (576 on July 18, 2023, the Flames announced that they would retire his number.
Kiprusoff, 47, will be the fourth Flames player honored with his number retired, joining forwards Lanny McDonald (No. 9), Jarome Iginla (No. 12), and goaltender Mike Vernon (No. 30).
